The challenge
Meeting policy requirements while adding real value
The design needed to demonstrate compliance with UGF targets without treating greening as a box-ticking exercise.
Play, habitat and visual quality had to be combined into coherent spaces that residents would genuinely use.
Outcomes
A policy-compliant, ecology-led landscape
The proposals clearly illustrated how UGF targets could be reached while also delivering attractive amenity spaces.
Quantified urban greening
The UGF assessment set out contributions from planting, roofs and permeable surfaces.
Child-friendly environment
On-site play space supports younger residents and their families.
Habitat-rich roofscape
Extensive roofs add biodiversity value and visual softness to the building.
