The challenge
Delivering variety of uses within a small footprint
The scheme needed to offer play, fitness and productive space while also accommodating circulation, services and privacy considerations.
Roof spaces had to be designed for safe, robust long-term use by residents.

Outcomes
A layered landscape for daily life and wellbeing
The proposals show how a compact urban site can still provide meaningful outdoor amenity for a keyworker community.
Child-friendly environment
On-site play reduces the need to travel and supports families living in the development.
Everyday activity and fitness
Outdoor gym equipment encourages informal exercise close to home.
Productive and social roofs
Allotments and roof gardens create spaces for growing, relaxation and neighbourly interaction.
